How to Know If Your Hormones Are Imbalanced

The H-Word

Growing up and into my adult years, PMS was something that seemed like a given for myself and my girlfriends. Being “hormonal” had so many negative connotations, and for good reason. Some also had endometriosis and other symptoms that caused them to reach for birth control options that seemed to help, but then other issues popped up. It made all of us dread menopause* as well. It was like a never-ending, exhausting battle.(*More on menopause in a later segment).

Then something shifted. I noticed I didn’t struggle with my cycle anymore. Everything worked like clock work and I had no more complaints. Eventually I discovered that some lifestyle changes I had made were to thank.

The way you live, move and eat affects you on a cellular level. On this week’s blog, I share seven common symptoms of hormonal imbalance and the relationship they have with your hormones.

Your body is beautifully intelligent

Your hormones are important chemical messengers in your body. They’re produced by your endocrine glands, including your  adrenals, thyroid, pancreas, and ovaries. When they’re all working well, your body’s rhythms stay in sync.

As you heard last week, many things can challenge your endocrine system, leading to imbalances in your hormone levels. I mentioned that many people often try to medicate their symptoms away. I want to clarify that medical therapies can be helpful for some women, depending on their scenario and stage of life.

Begin With Nature

That said, I highly encourage you to look to natural methods first. Food and lifestyle changes may mean that no further intervention is required. Take a patient, loving attitude toward the process. The longer a system is “out of order” the more difficult it can be to bring it back into harmony. Adopting natural healing practices in your lifestyle can help you begin to turn it around.

This week, you’ll learn what to look for to determine if you have a hormonal imbalance. I share seven common symptoms and the relationship they have with your hormones.
