What Your Business Is Actually Returning to You with Keri Kugler

The Four Returns framework names four things every founder is actually building toward: Monetary ROI, Identity ROI, Relational ROI, and Energetic ROI. Most founders only track the first one, and it costs them the other three.

I’ve been sitting with this idea for months, turning it over in client conversations and in my own life, and I finally have language for something I think a lot of us have felt without being able to name it. Revenue was never a lie. It was just never the whole truth. That’s the premise of the book I’ve been writing this year.

This episode is a conversation with Keri Kugler, a leadership mentor and strategist who has spent nearly a decade working with women in business through growth, expansion, and reinvention. She’s also the host of The Aligned Woman Podcast, and this episode is airing on both of our shows.

We talk about what it actually costs to build a business that only tracks Monetary ROI. We talk about the founders who are afraid to make the moves they feel called to make because those moves do not look like what everyone else in their industry is doing. And we talk about what it means to fit out instead of fitting in, a phrase Keri brought into the conversation that I have not stopped thinking about since.

This conversation was originally supposed to happen back in the spring. Life had a different plan. I had an emergency appendectomy that pulled me out of everything for about five weeks, and that time away is part of why this framework has the depth it has now. Sometimes the delay is the ingredient.

If you have ever built something impressive and still felt like you were missing something you could not quite name, this one is for you.

In This Episode:

  • The Four Returns framework: Monetary, Identity, Relational, and Energetic ROI
  • Why tracking revenue alone leaves founders wondering what the number was actually for
  • What it means to fit out instead of fitting in when you are building something that does not look like the industry standard
  • Why founders hold back on the moves that matter most, and what it costs them
  • What changed in Sheila’s thinking during five weeks away from her business
  • How Keri works with women leaders through growth, expansion, and reinvention
  • Where to find both shows and continue the conversation
